An expanded meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Beibut Atamkulov, dedicated to summarizing the results of the first year of implementation of the “Cybershield of Kazakhstan” Cybersecurity Concept until 2022.
The heads of the ministries of defense of the RK, education and science of the RK, the internal affairs of the RK, the Committee for National Security of the RK, the National Bank of the RK, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the RK, the International University of Information Technologies, representatives of the JSC “Kazakhtelecom”, JSC “Transtelecom”, specialists of the Center for Analysis and Investigation of Cyberattacks “CAIC” and “Kazakhstan Association for Information Security”.
Among the main results are the formation of legislation, the expansion of the scope of compulsory use of technical standards and requirements, the adoption of a professional standard, the increase of educational grants, the organization of systematic work to improve the literacy of civil servants and inform citizens about security measures when using information and communication technologies.
Also at the meeting the expert community put forward and discussed a number of new initiatives to create and commercialize specialized solutions of Kazakhstan developers, to increase the role of telecom operators in the organization of interaction in computer attacks and the prevention of violations in the field of cybersecurity in the face of the growing number of “online” services and electronic public services , as well as the further development of special educational programs in the country’s universities.
