Israel will develop new long-range missiles

It is planning to arm the Israeli army with long-range missile artillery. Portal armyrecognition.com on February 4, 2018 reported that Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman instructed the military department to develop new missiles of increased range.

During the first stage on the base of missile complexes EXTRA (Extended-range artillery) it is planned to create missiles of increased range. Today missiles of EXTRA can hit the targets on the distance to 150 km with a deviation from the aiming point not more than 10 m. Further, this distance can be increased twice.

The Ministry of defense of Israel allocated 500 million US dollars on development and purchasing of a new arm. At the same time the total cost of the program on increasing of long range of missile artillery can be cost 2 billion of US dollars. Besides, new missiles can be adapted for using on ships and aircrafts of the Israeli army.

Missile complexes EXTRA were developed by companies Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) and Israel Military Industries (IMI). For the first time installations were demonstrated during the exhibition Paris Air show 2005. Each of missiles of the complex EXTRA weights about 450 kg, in which 125 kg is the warhead (fighting part). The length of the missile is about 4 m, diameter- 30sm. Besides TSAHAL, complexes EXTRA are in service in armies of Azerbaijan and Vietnam.
