By the Decree of the Head of State dated December 26, 2018, Askar Kuanyshevich Zhumagaliyev was appointed Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Askar Zhumagaliev was born in 1972 in the Orenburg region of the RSFSR. He graduated from the Sverdlovsk Suvorov Military School.

He graduated from the Kazakh National Technical University (Alma-Ata) with a degree in “Radio Communication, Broadcasting and Television”.О

He received a second degree in jurisprudence from the Kazakh Humanities and Law University, the degree of “Master in Electronic Governance” at the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne.

In 1996 – 1998 He served as CEO of “Zharyk” LLP;

In 1998 – 1999 He worked as the head of the sector of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

In 1999 – 2000 – was the chief specialist, head of the department of the Transport Control Committee of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

In 2000, he served as Head of the Department of the Republican State Enterprise “Republican Center for Telecommunications Traffic Billing”;

In 2001–2003 – Head of the Department of State Supervision in the field of Communications, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

In 2003–2005 – Deputy Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Informatization and Communication;

In 2004–2005 – Acting Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Informatization and Communication;

In 2005–2006 – First Deputy Chairman of the Agency for Informatization and Communication;

In 2006 he served as Chairman of the Agency for Information and Communication of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

In 2006 – 2010 – President of “Kazakhtelecom” JSC;

In 2010 – 2012 – Minister of Communications and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

In 2012–2014 – served as Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

In 2014 – Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Communications and Information;

In 2014–2015 – Deputy Minister for Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

From 2015 to 2017 He served as Chairman of the Board of JSC NAC “Kazatomprom”.
Since August 2017, he served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
