The State Committee for Defense Industry was established by the Presidential Decree from the 20th of November, 2017. It will be responsible for carrying out a unified state policy in the sphere of formation of state defense orders and organization of productions of defense industry.
The State Committee for Defense Industry will join the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan on the development of foreign trade activities, export potential, engineering, automotive and electrical industries, and product standardization.
The new committee will be engaged in providing the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan with weapons, military equipment, military-technical and clothing items, food and other material and technical means.
Also, from the 1st of July, 2018, activities related to the development, production, repair, processing and liquidation of military hardware will be carried out on the basis of licenses issued by the State Committee for Defense Industry.
The structure of the created committee will include: State Enterprise “Uzmaxsusimpex”; State Unitary Enterprise “Vostok” under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan;
State Enterprise “Chirchik Aircraft Repair Plant”.
