Kazakhstan and Turkey intend to jointly develop the production of vehicles

JSC «NC «Kazakhstan Engineering» and Turkish «Otokar» plan to develop cooperation in the field of production of vehicles, including armored cars. The corresponding memorandum was signed on Thursday, May 24, in Astana by the leaders of the two companies Asset Kurmangaliyev and Serdar Gyorgyuch on the «fields» of the V International Exhibition of Arms and Military-Technical Property «KADEX-2018».

«Otokar» is interested in organizing the production of vehicles and armored vehicles on the territory of Kazakhstan. In this connection, one of the plants that is part of the national company «Kazakhstan Engineering» is considered as a technological platform. It is planned that the joint venture will design and build auto equipment.

Along with this, the parties intend to carry out maintenance, repair and modernization of Turkish armored cars, which are already in operation in Kazakhstan.

As noted after the signing ceremony, «Otokar» CEO S. Gyorgyuch, the concluded memorandum confirms the intention of the Turkish side to work in Kazakhstan. Thus, according to him, the document became the “first step” in the organization of joint production and the creation of an engineering center.

At the first stage of the interaction, a working group will be formed that will develop a feasibility study, draw up a business plan for the joint project, and work out issues of technology transfer and intellectual property.

«Otokar» Defense Company is part of Turkey’s largest financial and industrial conglomerate «Koç Holding», which is considered in Kazakhstan as one of the largest Turkish investors.
