Military parade in honor of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus was held in Minsk. In procession were involved more than 4 thousand militaries of three countries and 250 units of military technique. For the first time pupils of cadet schools, military lyceums, women servicemen and representatives of the People’s Liberation Army of China took part in festive procession.
Russian militaries take part in Minsk parades traditionally. This time division of Russian airborne troops marched on Masherov’s ave, and four units of Su-30SM fighters, Su-34 bombers and Ka-52 helicopters flied above the center of Minsk.
The festive procession was opened by the drummers of the Minsk Suvorov School. Another novelty of the parade were drones – for the first time robotic airplanes and helicopters “Skybur”, “Belar” and “Grif-100” demonstrated to the general public. The artillery was represented by self-propelled and towed howitzers “Carnation”, “Hyacinth” and “Msta”.
The parade was attended by multiple launch rocket systems “Belgrade” – an analogue of the Russian “Grad”, – “Smerch” and the new Belarusian development, the “Polonaise” MLRS. The sky of Belarus is protected by Russian air defense systems: “Osa”, “Tunguska”, “Tor-M2”.
The air parade was opened by the world’s largest serial Mi-26 helicopter with the Belarusian flag, accompanied by miniature (against the background of the giant) Mi-2. Overhead helicopters Mi-24, Su-27 fighters of the Belarusian Air Force flew over Minsk, an Il-76 military transport plane was escorted, accompanied by five training L-39s that blew the colors of the Belarusian flag.
