Russia will continue to provide gratuitous military-technical assistance to Mongolia

The Deputy Director of the Federal service on military-technical cooperation of the RF Vladimir Drozhzhov paid a working visit in Mongolia. At the meeting the State secretary of the ministry of Defense, Colonel H. Batbileg and Mr. Drozhzhov signed a protocol between governments.

Russian federation and Mongolia agreed on prolongation of intergovernmental agreement’s validity on providing by Russia gratuitous military-technical assistance to Mongolia.

Note, that in 1993 Mongolia and Russia concluded intergovernmental agreement on military-technical cooperation. The ministries of both States also concluded agreement on military cooperation, which is the law basis of joint activity and interaction of the ministries of defense of both states.

Since 2000 mutual relations have expanded, and since 2005 at the request of Mongolia Russia has started to provide gratuitous assistance to Mongolia in the form of military equipment.

Mongolian mass media write that the State will receive the next batch of tanks T-90A, armored personnel carriers BTR-80 and BMP-2, anti-aircraft missile systems (AMS) – C-300 “Favorite”, transport and combat helicopters, radar systems and 12 Russian multi-purpose all-weather fighters of the fourth generation of Su-27.
