The Greek Air Force made a choice in favor of a P2002 JF training aircraft

Center for analysis of world arms trade, 17th of May, 2018. The Greek Air Force chose P2002 JF of Italian company Tecnam as a new training aircraft for initial training. It will replace obsolete training aircraft T-41D “Mescalero” of the Cessna Mescalero Company.

According to the Jane’s Defence Weekly, T-41D at the current time are in service at the 360th squadron, stationed at the air base “Dhekelia”, where also the Academy of Air Force of Greece is placed.

Except exhibition of 12 aircraft P2002 JF, worth of which is 2,4 millions of euro (2,8 million US dollars), computer system of training and the pack of concomitant services were ordered.

The tender procedure was initiated in June 2016 and resumed in February 2017.

As Center for analysis of world arms trade noted, P2002JF – a twin-placed single-engine aircraft with a trapezoidal low wing and a non-retractable landing gear. The length of the aircraft is 6.65 m, the wingspan is 8.6 m, the height is 2.43 m, the maximum take-off weight is 620 kg, and the payload weight is 240 kg. The Training aircraft is equipped with a 98 hp Rotax 912 S2 / S3 engine. and develops a maximum speed of 226 km / h, flight range – 1051 km, practical ceiling – 4267 m.
