Foss “KMW expands Dingo protected vehicle family”, the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) has developed a new version of its famous family of armored vehicles Dingo – armored car Dingo 2 Heavy Duty HD), differing in the wheel formula 6×6, instead of 4×4 in the previous versions of Dingo. The starting customer of Dingo 2 HD was Qatar, who received 14 of these cars in three variants (medical, command post and carrier of ground reconnaissance radar) under the well-known contract for the purchase of German armored vehicles.
The armored cars of the Dingo family of previous issues were made on the chassis of the Mercedes-Benz UNIMOG (4×4). To date, more than 1,000 Dingo (4×4) machines have been manufactured, which are in service in seven countries.
The car Dingo 2 HD is made on the chassis of the car Mercedes-Benz UNIMOG FGA20 with the wheel formula 6×6 and has a total combat mass of 20 tons. The landing compartment has a capacity of 10 people in the version of the armored personnel carrier, the staff crew is two people. The 240 kW diesel engine is combined with an automatic transmission. The level of protection of the machine is not disclosed, the housing can be equipped with an additional hinged armor kit.
