Askar Zhumagaliyev met with the head of “Roscosmos”

During the launch campaign for the launch of Soyuz MS-12 on March 14, 2019, a working meeting was held at the Baikonur cosmodrome under the guidance of Askar Zhumagaliyev, Minister of Digital Development, Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Dmitry Rogozin, General Director of “Roscosmos” Corporation.

Head of the Baikonur Administration Busygin K.D.and akim of the Kyzylorda Region Kusherbaev K.E. also took part in the negotiations.

The meeting addressed a wide range of issues related to cooperation at the “Baikonur” complex and in general in the space sector.

In particular, the parties discussed the progress of work and agreed on the procedure for further joint practical actions for the implementation of the project to create the “Baiterek” spacecraft with access to its flight tests in 2022. The attention of the parties was also given to the importance of ensuring the commercial attractiveness of the project.

The meeting also addressed issues on the implementation of the trilateral modernization project of the Gagarinsky start jointly with the UAE in order to further exploit it in the interests of the parties, and the interaction of interested state bodies and organizations of Russia and Kazakhstan in implementing One Web program services.

During the meeting, the delegations discussed joint measures aimed at resolving problematic issues and the development prospects of the city of Baikonur, providing decent housing and socio-political living conditions for its residents. In particular, it was decided to create a working group to create a free economic zone (FEZ) “Baikonur”, which will allow to create favorable conditions for business development, employment of the population.

The heads of delegations highly appreciated the effectiveness of the activities of the Russian-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission on the “Baikonur” complex and reached a preliminary agreement on holding its sixth meeting in Moscow in April of this year.
