CIS countries signed agreement on satellite communication for military use

Intergovernmental agreements on the use of military satellite communications systems were signed during a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which was held in Kyzyl on Wednesday on the 6th of June.

“In the interest of increasing the combat capabilities of the armed forces of the Commonwealth states, intergovernmental agreements on the use of satellite communications systems for military purposes and their further improvement have been signed, as well as cooperation in the area of geospatial information exchange,” it was said in the communiqué.

It is noted that in the framework of improving the functioning of joint military systems, defense ministers considered proposals for the further development of the Joint Air Defense System (JADS) of CIS, the Joint Communication System (JCS), the Unified State Radar Identification System, the aviation security system of the Armed Forces and other systems.

In particular, the holding in Belarus of joint computer command and staff trainings “Regional Security – 2018″of the JADS of CIS was approved. In Kazakhstan, the operational and tactical command and staff trainings of the air defense forces (forces) “Clear Sky-2018” will be held. The international treaty framework for the development of the Joint Communication System has been approved, and the state of flight safety of the aviation of the armed forces for the year 2017 has been analyzed, the joint communiqué says.

The defense ministers of the Commonwealth countries supported the proposal of Belarus on the development of a new priority area of cooperation related to the use of unmanned aircraft of the armed forces and counteraction to unmanned aerial vehicles.
