Contract for the supply of transport aircraft BTA C-295 for the Border Guard Service of Kazakhstan

Center for analysis of world arms trade on the 22nd of March, 2019 reports, that Airbus Defense and Space announced the signing of a contract with the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the supply of one medium-sized BTA C-295 aircraft.

Thanks to the new agreement, which also includes the training of personnel, the supply of spare parts and ground support equipment, the total fleet of C-295 purchased by Kazakhstan will increase to nine units. The new C-295 in the transport configuration will be used to control borders and ensure internal security.

Kazakhstan became the first customer of Airbus Defense & Space aircraft in the CIS. In March 2012, Airbus Military entered into a contract with “Kazspetsexport”, a state-owned company belonging to the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan, for the supply of two C-295, as well as a related package of logistics, spare parts and ground equipment.

   The Border Guard Service of Kazakhstan has become the 31st operator of C-295. The ordered aircraft became the 13th in a row, which will be delivered to the CIS countries.

The C-295 aircraft is designed for the transportation of troops and cargo, parachute landing and landing methods, medical evacuation. The machine provides the possibility of delivering to the destination up to 9.2 tons of cargo, 71 servicemen or 48 paratroopers, or 24 wounded on stretchers with medical personnel.
