INTERFAX – A new robot of radiation reconnaissance began to be created for the troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection (RCBP), said Chief of the Army Major-General Igor Kirillov on Friday.
“At present, enterprises of the defense industry complex, in the interests of the RCB protection troops, are working to create a single robotic complex that includes both ground-based and airborne radiological reconnaissance equipment”, Kirillov said in an interview with the official newspaper of the Russian Defense Ministry “Krasnaya Zvezda”.
The chief of troops also said that the closed part of the forum “Army-2018” will show the newest machines of chemical reconnaissance – RXM-8 and RXM-9.
“The use of these machines provides an increase in the speed of reconnaissance, namely, the collection, processing and transfer of data in real time to the troop control system. In addition, the speed, reliability and completeness of the detection of the RCB environment is increasing, the accuracy of the PCB situation forecast is increasing and, provides security calculations, “- added the Major General.
According to media reports, the cars are mounted on the basis of the armored car “Typhoon”. In 2018 they will begin to enter the troops.
Previously, the Defense Ministry said that the structure of the prospective complex will include drones (UAVs).
“The use of UAVs to transmit information about the radiation and chemical conditions will significantly increase the range of control of ground-based robots”, noted in the ministry.
The Defense Ministry added that in 2017 more than 350 units of special equipment were delivered to the RCBP, including RXM-6 reconnaissance vehicles, TDA-3 smoke machines, and heavy flame-throwing systems TOS-1A.
