Ten wheeled (4×4) armored vehicles VAB Hot Mephisto, equipped with a tower to accommodate a rocket launcher ATGM, were delivered on November 27, 2018 to Lebanon as part of the French assistance program. A new batch of weapons and armored vehicles, received by the Lebanese army, is part of continuing the plan to expand cooperation between Lebanon and France.
During 2017-2018 France has allocated 45 million Euros to strengthen the combat capability of the Armed Forces of Lebanon, including the supply of self-propelled anti-tank systems, HOT-2 ATGM, simulators, spare parts and training programs.
Self-propelled ATGM can fire on tanks up to 4,000 meters. In car, there are four missiles ready for firing; eight anti-tank guided missiles are inside the hull in two stores.
The rocket is launched from a pipe, equipped with SACLOS optical guidance system (Semi-Automatic Command to Line Of Sight). In the SACLOS system, the operator must constantly hold the target mark in the sight while the rocket is in flight.
